It is the undisputed flagship of Val Müstair - the UNESCO World Heritage Monastery of St. Johann attracts visitors from everywhere. The Tessanda hand weaving mill in Sta. Maria is one of the last professional hand weaving mills in Switzerland. For 90 years now, the weavers have been passing on the secrets of the weaving tradition to their successors.

Dating back to the 17th century, the Muglin Mall is the oldest functioning mill in Switzerland. To this day, two Strauber wheels drive the mill and stamp. To this end, the living power of the nearby Muranzina mountain stream is harnessed and channelled to the wheels via steep water channels. The mill not only grinds grain from the region, it has also always been a place for people to meet and socialise.
