The UNESCO World Heritage Site of Müstair Abbey, one of the most important Carolingian and Romanesque monastery complexes, is located at a historical interface between north and south in the Grisons Alps.
Here, close to the main Roman road from Verona to Augsburg, the Via Claudia Augusta, a variety of contacts and transfer processes between the Mediterranean and northern Alpine worlds can be observed.
The CONNECTED SPACES summer school would like to bring together dissertation projects and advanced master's theses on the following topics at this inspiring location and discuss them in an interdisciplinary group:
Right side:
The focus is on the fields of art and architectural history, but thematically appropriate applications from other cultural studies and humanities disciplines are also welcome.
Short presentations and roundtables are planned, as well as a joint tour of the monastery with discussion of its collections, surrounding objects and infrastructure.
Registration formalities:
The number of participants is limited to 15 people
Please apply by June 1, 2025 (description of the dissertation project or master's thesis max. 2,000 characters and short CV max. 500 characters, German or English)
