Food for Future

Meier-beck
Where does our food come from? How do they reach our plates? And what does this mean for the environment, the economy and society? Using the example of mountain cereals, we explore these and other questions in the educational programme «Food for Future».

Experience and reflect

«Food for Future» focuses on global and regional food cycles. Production and processing, transport, consumption and their effects on the environment, the economy and society are addressed. On the excursion day, the production cycle of mountain grain will be explored. At various locations such as the Muglin Mall or the bakery, the individual processing steps will be made visible. The pupils learn more about the production and processing of grain, bake bread themselves, get to know regional businesses and reflect on their own consumption. Finally, their own behaviour patterns are questioned and transfer possibilities to everyday life are discussed, combined with the question: «What can I contribute to a sustainable and future-oriented diet?»
